City of Chelan to celebrate Arbor Day April 13

Posted

CHELAN - The City of Chelan has been named Tree City USA for a benchmark 10th year by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

The City of Chelan will be holding its annual Arbor Day celebration on Thursday, April 13, at 11 a.m. in Don Morse Park, located at 619 West Manson Highway, Chelan. We will be hosting a free hot dog barbeque, with musical entertainment by the Chelan High School Jazz Band. One hundred and fifty tubed Norway Spruce seedlings will be given away with other mementoes, as well as an Arbor Day related educational presentation. We anticipate an attendance of approximately 200.

Please come join us and celebrate the importance of trees which provide an abundance of resources and scenic landscapes to our valley and our continued commitment to be good stewards of the environment.
