“Kingdom Rock” Vacation Bible School

CHELAN - “Kingdom Rock” Vacation Bible School.  The Chelan Seventh-day Adventist Church invites you to Kingdom Rock: Where kids stand strong for God.  At Kingdom Rock, kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and eat yummy treats, experience epic Bible adventures, and make fun crafts. The VBS will be held July 31 - August 5.  They will begin at 9 a.m. and finish at 11:30 a.m. The church is on 109 E. Highland Avenue, right below where Regency Manor used to be.  If you have questions, call (509) 682-5622.  Activities available for children ages 5-12.

Manson Farmer’s Market

MANSON - The Farmer’s Market in Manson opens at 8:30 a.m. when the bell rings on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, at the Manson Grange, 157 Wapato Way and runs until 11:30 a.m.  Local farmers, growers, crafters and artisans bring fresh picked produce and handcrafted items. Sellouts are common so come early for the best selection, some vendors may linger longer, but many vendors sellout and leave early.  Come for a day for just $5, or the season for $50. Thursday Evening Farmers Market

CHELAN -  Thursday Evening Farmers market is open 4-7 p.m. every Thursday, on the corner of S. Emerson and Wapato Streets, between the Riverwalk Inn and Riverwalk Park. Story time at library

CHELAN - Story time is every Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Chelan Public Library located on Emerson Street. Join them for singing, dancing, clapping, music making as well as reading. It’s both fun and educational!

Story time at library

MANSON - Every Wednesday at 11 a.m. the Manson Community Library offers a story time for children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers.  Join the group for a half hour of stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays and other activities.  For more information call the library at 687-3420.

Summer programs at libraries 

CHELAN / MANSON - Summer vacation may be a time to relax, swim in the lake and enjoy the outdoors, but its also a good occasion to cozy up in a blanket and read or attend one of the summer programs at your local library.

NCSC to meet

CHELAN - The next meeting of the North Cascades Sportsman Club board will be held on Wednesday, August 2. Board meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. Meetings take place at the Chelan PUD located at 1034 E. Woodin Ave. in Chelan.

Bilingual story time

CHELAN - Bilingual story time is the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.at the Chelan Library. A fun half hour of stories in Spanish and English for families. The Chelan Library is located at the corner of Emerson and Chelan. For information 682-5131.

Aging & Adult Services board meeting

EAST WENATCHEE - The 2017 meeting schedule for the Columbia River Council of Governments, governing body of Aging and Adult Care of Central Washington, scheduled to meet at 50 Simon Street S.E.: Aug. 3; Sept. 7; Oct. 5; Nov. 2; and Dec.7.   All meetings begin at 1:30 p.m. Grant County Commissioner Cindy Carter is chair of the council, composed of one county commissioner from Adams, Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Lincoln, and Okanogan Counties. Celebrate Recovery

CHELAN - Lake Chelan Celebrate Recovery Meets every Thursday at Living Stone Church, (formerly Little Stone Church), 2133 W. Woodin Avenue. Dinner is at 6 p.m., cost is $3. Group meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by gender-specific small groups. Celebrate Recovery is a confidential, Biblically-based twelve step program for anyone struggling with addiction, co-dependency, gambling, relationships and other life issues.

CHELAN - Baby rhymin’ time is every Friday at 10 a.m., at the Chelan Pubic Library on Emerson Street, for ages 0-3 years. Join them for singing, dancing, nursery rhymes, musical instruments, and story telling for babies, waddlers and toddlers. 

Community ‘Soup’ Kitchen

CHELAN - The Lake Chelan United Methodist Church Community ‘Soup’ Kitchen is open every Friday, noon to 1:30 p.m. The church is located at the corner of Johnson and Emerson.

Lake Chelan Rodeo

MANSON - There will be a birthday party in celebration of Vera Goss’s, 90th birthday on Saturday, August 5, 2-4 p.m., in the Manson Grange Hall on Wapato Way. Family and friends are welcome to come and wish her happy birthday.

Manson Fire District meeting

MANSON - The Chelan County Fire District 5 Commissioners will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday, August 8, at 4:30 p.m. at Station 51 located at 250 W. Manson Blvd. 

Heritage Heights board meeting

CHELAN - The Heritage Heights Assisted Living monthly board meeting will be held July 11, (second Tuesday of every month), at 5 p.m. in the activity room at Heritage Heights.  Community members are welcome to attend.  The meeting lasts approximately one hour. Cancer Support Groups

CHELAN - Second Meeting Added: The Women’s Wellness Group, cancer support group, now has 2 support groups, the second Tuesday of each month for lunch, with lunch provided by the Wenatchee Wellness Place, at the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board Room at 11:45 a.m. and the fourth Wednesday of each month at LaBrisa at 5 p.m.  For more information, contact Anne at 682-8718.

Veteran’s Assistance

CHELAN - The Chelan County Veteran’s Service Coordinator is in Chelan the second Thursday of each month.  Tony Sandoval will be at the Apple Cup Cafe Banquet Room, 9-11 a.m. Those veterans who need to file a claim or inquire about benefits can come at that time. Lake Chelan Creative Arts Festival 

CHELAN - Come experience art in Riverwalk Park. This annual festival hosted by the Lake Chelan Arts Council incorporates all forms of creative arts and promises fun for the entire family. Enjoy fine arts and crafts by juried artists, Once again the Rustique Divas will bring booths full of vintage, antiques and re-purposed treasures. There will be food, vintage trailers to wander through, fun activities for kids and maybe a few surprises. Julie Peterson’s art will be on the poster and available at the event for purchase. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 20. Woodstock Anniversary 2017 fundraiser

CHELAN - Woodstock Anniversary 2017 will be held Saturday, August 26, 5-9:30 p.m. at Watson’s Alpenhorn Cafe, across Highway 971 from the Chelan State Park. This fundraiser concert benefits Chelan Valley Hope. Tickets are $15, kids 12 and under free. Food and beverage will be available for purchase. There is festival seating and a costume contest.
