Chelan hospital brings a super colon to town for prevention fair June 20

CHELAN – No butts about it. Colon cancer and other health issues can be prevented. Join Lake Chelan Community Hospital & Clinics (LCCHC) Thursday, June 20 for a family prevention fair at the Chelan Fire Station ) from 4 – 7 p.m., the same time as the Chelan Evening Farmers Market. Do your shopping and follow the poop emoji trail to the fire station for this fun event for all ages.

The Prevent Cancer Super Colon® will be the centerpiece. It’s an interactive and educational experience where visitors can walk through a twenty-foot inflatable replica of a colon and learn about colon health. Visitors get an up-close look at healthy colon tissue, tissue with non-malignant colorectal disease (like ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease), colorectal polyps and various stages of colorectal cancer.

The Prevent Cancer Super Colon® has traveled across the U.S. educating people on the importance of cancer screenings and ways reduce your cancer risk. More than 140,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with colorectal cancer each year and it is the second leading cause of cancer death overall. The Super Colon demonstrates that colorectal cancer is Preventable, Treatable, Beatable® through healthy lifestyle choices and regular cancer screenings.

A representative from the Prevent Cancer Foundation® will accompany the exhibit to provide more information and materials on colorectal cancer prevention and early detection, and some of your favorite local doctors and caregivers will also be on hand to teach and visit with community members.

Attendees can meet Polly Polyp, visit prevention booths and win prizes. Lake Chelan Emergency Medical Services will provide free blood pressure and glucose scans, and you can get a free InBody scan to learn your percentage of body fat, lean body mass and more.

The Super Colon Prevention Fair, InBody Machine and other hospital wellness programs are supported by the Lake Chelan Health & Wellness Foundation.
