Chelan hosts U.S. Open of Paragliding

CHELAN - Over the weekend if you looked up by the Chelan Butte you were able to see more than 120 paragliders from 25 countries, including the U.S., take off from the top of the Chelan Butte. The U.S. Paragliding National Competition began on Sunday, July 7 and will wrap up on Saturday, July 13 with an awards ceremony and closing party. Throughout this week, pilots will be participating in a Cat 2 Race to Goal USHPA sanctioned XC Competition in three categories: Open, Ladies and Sport. Each day tasks and results can be found by visiting www.airtribune.com. The take-off window begins at 11 a.m. each day, so grab your binoculars and look up the Butte.
