Local Housing Trust receives support from City of Chelan, Wine & Jazz Fest

CHELAN  – The Chelan Valley Housing Trust receives critiical financial infusion to support phase one completion of affordable family homes for Chelan Valley residents. Chelan Valley Housing Trust is a non-profit trust that has been working closely with the communiity and local businesses to set up initial operations, secure land for afordable homes, and develop home-owner programs designed to offer affordable housing opportunities to qualified Chelan residents. Recent donations from the Lake Chelan Wine and Jazz Festival and the City of Chelan will help accelerate these actitivities.

The Lake Chelan Wine and Jazz Festival Foundation is a non-profit organization designed to showcase internationally acclaimed jazz artists , celebrate local wineries, promote the Lake Chelan Valley, and raise funds for local charities. The Foundation donated $25,000 from May 2019 festival proceeds. The City of Chelan also made its first contribution of $20,000.

“Affordable housing is essential to maintaining a vibrant community. People who live, work  and support our community should be able to afford to live here.  We believe the Chelan Valley Housing Trust has taken on an important iniative and we’re honored to support their efforts,” said Holly Brown, Director of Marketing for the Lake Chelan Wine and Jazz Festival.

The Chelan Valley Housing Trust Board and staff are extremely grateful for the support and will use the funds to accelerate the development of the first homes expected to begin development in Spring 2020.“The City has shown over and over it’s commitment to housing and we’re ecstatic that a local organization is  getting involved as well. Wine and Jazz Fest is setting a stellar example for others to support our local economy and community.”
