Pet Safety

Posted

As temperatures increase, we want to remind you how important it is to not leave your pets in unattended vehicles. Failing to avoid these dangers can be fatal. The Washington State RCW 16.52.340 Law states that "people who leave an unattended animal in a car where it could be harmed by heat, dehydration or improper ventilation are subject to a $257 fine and may be subject to being charged with animal cruelty - a felony offense."

If you suspect an animal is suffering, contact the Chelan Sheriff Department at 509-663-9911 or the Animal Control Officer.
