Chelan Goats X-C place at State

Mereya Garbily and Teagan Silva.

The Chelan High School Cross Country qualifiers traveled to Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco on Saturday November 3rd for the State Meet.

Chris Knight, Chelan boys’ only qualifier, ran an exceptional race. He improved his standing by 39 places from last year by earning 21st out of 163 runners in a time of 17:04. He was only 10 seconds away from the podium. He ran a smart race positioning himself in the top group throughout the race.

The two girls who qualified also ran excellent races. Teegan Silva and Mireya Garibay ran side by side as they have all year.

They hit their mile and two mile marks exactly where they needed to be and picked off several runners in the last mile. Teegan edged ahead of Mireya at the end with times of 20:34.4 and 20:34.5 respectively. Teegan placed 39th and was the 7th fastest freshman in the state while Mireya placed 40th and was the 11th fastest sophomore.

All three runners will be back next year.  Congrats to all the runners of the 2018 season. We had huge improvements and personal records. Looking forward to 2019!
