Vs. Okanogan April 9

OKANOGAN - Chelan took to the links at Okanogan yesterday (April 9) for their 2nd match of the season (and for most, only their 4th time on an actual golf course this season) and their first league match. The weather turned out grans, partly sunny and slight breeze, but the scores for both teams weren’t as grand.  Okanogan boys took team honors with a 383 to Chelan’s 396, with Chelan’s Miles Grossberg (so.) taking individual honors with a 9-over-par 80, followed closely by Okanogan’s Billy Norwell with an 82.

For the girls, Chelan only had 2 girls playing varsity and Okanogan only had 1, so there were no girls team scores; Chelan’s Kaylin Boykin (jr.) took individual honors with a 116.

Vs. Cascade April 11

CHELAN - Chelan golf teams hosted Cascade at the Lake Chelan Municipal Golf Course this Thursday (April 11) under threatening skies that eventually gave way to some light rain on the golfers.  The Chelan boys team came through with a 386 to 427 win, with Chelan’s Miles Grossberg (so.) taking medalist honors with an 82 (41/41), and scoring nearly 20 strokes better than any of his teammates.  Thankfully, though, Chelan’s top four scores were enough to garner a win for the boys team today.

For the girls, Chelan was not able to post a team score with only 3 varsity girls playing all 18 holes.  Cascade’s Emma Halseth took girls medalist honors shooting a 108, trailed closely by Chelan’s Kaylin Boykin (jr.) with a 110.  Kaylin struggled on the first (back) 9, shooting a 61, but came back on the second (front) 9 to shoot a 49.

The next outing for the girls is the Wenatchee Valley Girls Invitational on Friday (April 12) at the Highlander Golf Course in East Wenatchee.  Next week, Chelan will be hosting their Gamble Sands Invitational at the highly acclaimed Gamble Sands Golf Course in Brewster, with the boys taking to the links on Wednesday (April 17) and the girls following on Thursday (April 18). Teams from across the state and of all sizes (1A up to 4A) will be competing against each other in what has become a very popular high school golf tournament.
