Chelan soccer wins at home in OT

Posted

CHELAN - After visiting the Omak Pioneers in Omak on Tuesday, April 16 and winning 2-1, the Chelan Goats hosted the Pioneers at Mt. Goat Field on Thursday, April 18. Both teams went to half time scoreless, hoping for a goal during the second half of the game. The Goats scored first leading the Pioneers 1-0. A controversial play towards the end of the second half in which the sideline referee called goal for the Pioneers tied the game 1-1, forcing both teams to play a five minute over time. The Goats quickly created a play near the Pioneers goal box, leaving the Pioneer defender with no other option but to commit a foul inside the area. The referee didn’t hesitate and called a penalty in favor of the Goats. Jonathan Ramirez executed the perfect penalty kick, scoring a goal which gave the Goats a 2-1 victory.

Later that week on April 20, the Goats welcomed to Mt. Goat Field, Lakeside (9 Mile) for a non-leauge game. The Lakeside team scored first against the Goats. A handball in the Lakeside goal side was enough to call a penalty kick, putting the score 1-1 at half time. During the second half Lakeside was able to put in two more goals, ending the game 1-3.

The Goats will face the Cashmere Bulldogs on Thursday, April 25 at Mt. Goat Field. Kick off is set for 4:30 p.m.
