CHS Cheer Squad

CHELAN – To hype up Chelan High School is the 2018-2019 Cheer squad.

Coaching the squad is Breanne Hanson, “This year’s group has such a strong work ethic that we were able to jump right into practices with the fight song, learning 4-5 cheers a practice, and preparing new stunts for the season,” she says.

According to Hanson, this year students showed more interest in cheer. The initial meeting 37 showed up, “when it came down to the clinics that lead up to try-outs the numbers lowered to 29, but it still was a huge jump from the previous years that I had coached.”

With seven returning cheerleaders out of the 16 squad members and one mascot the Cheer squad is ready for football season. During the winter 10 squad members will cheer on the basketball team plus the mascot. The basketball squad has six returners.

“The returning cheerleaders have been very welcoming to the new cheerleaders. The new squad members are eager to learn cheers and dances, and have such a strong work ethic it makes things run very smoothly between squad members and the learning period at the start of the season,” coach said.

The cheerleaders are interested in not only cheering but also in mastering stunts and performance dances. “I have very high expectations for the quality of work that will put forth to make sure all game and community performances will be the best Chelan has seen!,” said Hanson.

This year the squad will be hosting a Mini Goat Cheer Camp during the final home game of the season against Riverside.
