Goats baseball opens season with 2 wins, 1 loss

CHELAN - The Chelan Goats opened the season at home  on Thursday, March 21 under perfect baseball conditions against the defending  2018 State B Champions Almira Coulee Hartline. The Goats came up short in the opener, losing the game 5-3, in a hard fought battle against a very strong pitching performance by ACH senior Dalton Kentner.

On Saturday, March 23 the Goats traveled to Quincy to take on the JackRabbits in a double header.  The Goats dominated the first game, winning by a score of 14-0. Senior Sam Austin took the mound for his first start of the season, allowing only 2 hits, while striking out 7 to earn the win. It was a total team effort on offense, accumulating  15 hits, led by 3 hits by junior Breckin Sporseen.

Game 2 featured more of the same for the Goats, taking game 2 by a score of 9-0. Junior Cade Christopherson got the start on the mound, earning the victory while allowing only 2 hits and striking out 8.  Offensively on the day, Sophomore Drake Bird had a monster day, getting 5 hits in 6 at bats, including 3 doubles and a home run.
