Goats golf compete at Gamble Sands

CHELAN - The Chelan Goats boys and girls golf team headed to Gamble Sands for a tournament with various schools this past week. 

On Wednesday, the boys hit the links and ended up placing 21 out of the 23 teams that were in attendance with a total score of 428. Corbin Morley paced the Goats with the team’s lowest score at 91. Seth Hannu finished with a 102, Luis Gallegos a 117, Steven Williams a 118 and Connor Abel with a 143. 

Overall, there were three kids that shot under par with Lake Stevens taking home first place with a team score of 317. Lake Stevens highest score was an 80. 

On Thursday, it was the girls turn to hit the course, and they tied for 18th place with Cascade, and Ephrata being the only two other schools not to field the required four players for a total team score. 

Myranda Evans and Madi Harrison competed for Chelan and both girls shot a 96 and 111 respectively. Out of 85 total girls, Evans finished in the top 20 with her score. 

Mt. Spokane took team honors with a 347.  Snohomish came in second with a 372 and Bellingham right behind them in 3rd with a 379.

Both the girls and guys will hit the course again on Thursday, April 27 when they take on Cascade and Okanogan at the Lake Chelan Municipal Golf Course. First tee time is set for 2:30 p.m.
