Lady Goats basketball youngest team in Caribou Trail League

Posted

CHELAN – Not only does the Chelan Lady Goats basketball team have a new coaching staff, they are also a very young team.

Coaching the young  basketball team for the first time as Head Coach is Rob Huddleston.

In the varsity team there are quite a few sophomores and freshmen, along with two juniors and the only senior Lexie Gleasman.

The team will take advantage of Gleasman a first team all-state volleyball player and track stars Matea Ivory and Molly Oswald abilities.

Coach Huddleston has one main goal for the team which he has shared with the girls, “to improve everyday is my biggest expectation,” he said.

The girls have been also working on team building and adversity.  “We have talked about not being afraid to fail and working hard and pushing yourself so you can improve,” Huddleston stated.

As a previous basketball volunteer of four years, Huddleston states he knows the girls’ strengths and weaknesses.

Before taking over the team, Huddleston attended different coaching clinics and also asked questions to his previous basketball coaches.

Coach sees the team having a lot of potential making it to Regionals and possibly State.

The Lady Goats are 3-2 overall, they won against Okanogan and lost their most recent game to LaSalle.

Up next, the Lady Goats will face Brewster at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 during Throwback Night.
