Lady Trojans Basketball: Back for more

An interview with Head Coach Eric Sivertson

Posted

MANSON – The Lady Trojans have begun the 2017-18 season and are playing strong after ending last season with an overall record of 6-16.
Head Coach Eric Sivertson relocated to Manson from the Auburn, WA area five years ago after looking for a small town to raise their family in. With over a decade of coaching under his belt, he’s optimistic for the outcome of this season.
The Lady Trojan’s bring three solid returners to the season, Junior Meghan Clausen at forward, Senior Celina Mendoza at Center, and Senior Kayla Gosvener at Guard. The three returners “were key contributors last year,” said Sivertson, “they’re the ones I can count on, they know what they’re doing.”
New to varsity this year though, is Sophomore Evelyn De Jesus. “She’s capable of playing a bunch of different positions,” Sivertson explained, “and has a knack for scoring baskets … she’s probably our second highest scorer.” With a solid foundation of returners and a new addition boasting shooting accuracy, the Lady Trojans are ready for a good season.
“I think we’re going to be better than last year,” Sivertson said about the season ahead of them, “we feel like we know what we’re doing better and are capable of making adjustments in games and working together.” He added the defensive and rebounding skills displayed by the team as being an important factor to their success, “we have more size than almost anyone else in our league and so, defensively we’re hard workers, rebounding we’ll be the best in our league,” he conclude
