Manson Cross Country running over obstacles

MANSON – After unforeseen circumstances, Kurt Toolson has taken the role as Manson Cross Country new head coach.

With only a few days ahead of team, Toolson says that this is a very brand new season for him.

“I can tell that the kids had put work in some time over the summer, getting in shape and getting mentally and physically ready for the season,” he said.

The team has a great attitude and they are ready to accomplish their goals. Even though at some point they had work with the smoke and train indoors, “they stuck with it and now they are moving forward from that, no excuses.”

This year there are a few returning kids, more so in the boys team. “They are experience runners and they are leaders, they know what to expect,” coach said.

Toolson knows that everyone has set goals for themselves this year and he wants for them put in the work for them to accomplish those goals, “it’s just me trying to provide the best course of action … they are very self-motivated.”

As a new coach, Toolson has experience nothing but positive interactions with the kids, “they are very open and friendly,” he says.

The team has a ”great dynamic, they like one another, they like being around one another.”

Toolson believes that the kids experience will get them far this season, “they want to see one another succeed.”
