Quincy Thursday, Oct. 12
Last night Chelan Girls soccer took on the Quincy Jack Rabbits at Quincy. It was a hard fought battle. Neither team dominated the field.  Quincy did create a few opportunities that forced Ashley Sams to come off her line to make really great saves. The first half was back and forth and a little sloppy on both sides as both teams adjusted to the rain soaked field.
The first half would come to a close ties at 0-0.
The second half brought about better results for us and we were able to generate better ball movement and support our attack. None of shots would find the netting but we gave ourselves the opportunities to score which had not happened in the first half. We played more aggressively as a team the second half. Leslie Garcia-Ortiz did a fantastic job at right back all night.   The game would finish 0-0.
We our headed into our final stretch of league play, traveling to Cashmere on Tuesday for a night game at 6:30 PM.

Oroville Friday, Oct. 13
Manson Trojans made the long journey to Oroville on Friday with hopes of showing their tenacity to the neighboring schools including, Liberty Bell, Tonasket, Chelan Omak, Brewster, and Lake Roosevelt.  Our Middle school fielded both a boys and girls team.  Leading finishers were Cara Hutton and Jesus Portillo.  Manson boys placing 3rd and girls 4th.  The outlook for next year’s high school team looks promising with numerous 8th graders moving up to 9th grade.
On the high school side, Libbey Ireland led the girls with a personal best of 22:15.  On the boy’s side, Eddie Sarmiento once again led the boys’ team to 4th place beating Liberty Bell and Tonasket.  Teams scores for the boys was Manson placing 4th with 102 points, Liberty Bell with 115 points and Tonasket with 121 points.  Beating the Trojans were Moses Lake, Cashmere, and Omak.  Every varsity runner ran a personal best including the JV runners, Bryce La mar placing 11th and Blake Cochran placing 18th. Liberty Bell
Thursday, Oct. 12
The Manson Lady Trojans finished strongly against the might Liberty Bell Mountain Lions at the Manson Athletic Complex (MAC) as they held their opponents scoreless in the second half.  However, a strong first half for Liberty Bell means they walked away the winners by a score of 4-0.  Manson started strongly and intensely as they put pressure on a very talented Liberty Bell team.  Jasmine Valdovinos, the lone Manson forward on the day, pressed hard up the field and made things a little uncomfortable for the opponents defense.  The momentum quickly changed at about 20 mintues when two mistakes by the Lady Trojans meant they were down 2-0 which took much of their energy out of the game.  A couple more goals before halftime meant the game was all but sealed up for Liberty Bell.  The Lady Trojans can be proud of the way that they finished the game but in the end take only a 4-0 loss away.  The next game will be at Bridgeport on Tuesday October 17th at 4:30.

Brewster Tuesday, Oct. 10
Manson girls soccer fell to a powerful Brewster team 7-0 on Tuesday night at Singleton Park.  Manson, continuing to struggle with a light squad, had only one sub on hand as the athletic and skillful Brewster bears came to town.  Although the Lady Trojans allowed 3 first half goals, they placed with intensity and organization and they stifled wave after wave of Brewster attack.  Jasmine Valdovinos provided some relief as the ball made it up her way as the lone center forward for the Lady Trojans.  In the second half Manson took more chances to try and grab a goal only for Brewster to score two more off counter attacks and eventually finish the game with 7.  In the end, the Manson girls continued to fight until the end but walked away with the loss.  The next game is home at the Manson Athletic Complex (MAC) on Thursday at 4:30pm versus Liberty Bell.
