CHELAN - The Chelan Goats Tennis team has been on fire all season, and they continued to simmer this past week as the boy’s finished the regular season season with an 11-0 and a 6-5 record for the girls.

The boy’s wrapped up their regular season with three team wins, two coming against Okanogan and once against Cashmere on Senior Day.

In their first matchup on Tuesday, May 2 against Okanogan, the boys won four out of the total five matches.

• Bryce Robison (Chelan) def Max Cheeseman 6-1, 6-4
• Black Chesledon (Okanogan) def Micah Larson 6-3,6-3
• Collin Hendricks (Chelan) def Jay Nearents 6-2, 6-3
• Henry Elsner - Rylan Anderson (Chelan) def Mason Duke-Morgan Poulin 6-0, 6-0
• Wyatt Habich-Bradley Castro (Chelan) def Brady Cate-Jesse Rosas

“The Okanogan boys have a deep and talented roster, so we had to play well tonight in order to win this match, and we did,” head coach Marty Rothlisberger said after the match. “I’m proud of our boys, they rose to the occasion.”

The girls side were not as fortunate against the Bulldogs as they lost by a final tally of 4-1, dropping their record to 5-4 overall.

Coach Rothlisberger was still proud of how his girls battled against the second ranked girls tennis team in 1A CTL.

“The Okanogan girls are also deep and talented, and they’ve got the experience edge over us as well,” Rothlisberger wrote after the game. “We played well, but lost more of the close sets.”

• Emma McLaren (Chelan) def Hayley Wilson 6-3, 6-4
• Jasmine Yusi (Okanogan) def Sydney Hawkins 6-3, 6-4
• Alex Perez (Okanogan) def Elli Vegdahl-Crowell 7-5, 6-2
• Shelby Walker-Megan Patrick (Okanogan) def Sierra Rothlisberger-Madeline Peebles 6-2, 6-2
• Hanna Smith-Sarah Dixon (Okanogan) def Nora Hollingsworth-Abby Martin 6-4, 6-7 (8-10), 6-4

Later in the week, the boys secured their fourth consecutive League Title and third consecutive undefeated season after beating Okanogan for a second consecutive time 4-1 and Cashmere 3-2.

“This group of graduating boys, Bryce Robison, Collin Hendricks, Rylan Anderson, Henry Elsner and Bradley Castro, wrapped up a four year record of 49-1,” coach Rothlisberger said of his boys on senior day. “The lone loss being against Cashmere their freshman year.”

Chelan will now advance into the post season play, which gets started on Thursday, May 11 at Cashmere and continues on Saturday, May 13. The winners will qualify for the State Tournament later this month.
