From Olympia to Chelan, Jennifer Keitzman joins HDCA

CHELAN - It’s not a surprise to hear that some people that vacation to Lake Chelan love it so much they end up moving there.

While the Lake - being the major commodity - is the main attraction the small town atmosphere has its appeal to some as well.

As was the case for Historic Downtown Chelan Associations (HDCA) newest Program and Event Coordinator, Jennifer Keitzman who just moved to Lake Chelan from her home in Olympia.

“I have vacationed in Chelan in the past with my family and found that I really enjoy the small town atmosphere, the climate and the lack of I-5 traffic.” Keitzman said.

Born in Renton, Keitzmans family relocated to Olympia when she was young. Then after completing her Human Resources Management Certification at Pierce College, Keitzman accepted a role as a human resources manager with Taylor Shellfish in Shelton, Wash. She then moved back to Olympia to raise her two children Brandon, who still resides in the capital, and her daughter Sarah.

Before moving to Chelan Keitzman worked in Thurston County,  where she had the opportunity to serve in a few different roles that gave her experience and knowledge in accounting, election administration, human resources and wellness committee administration.

According HDCA Executive Director Jessie Simmons, Keitzman’s background in human resources, accounting and her past coordination of programs and events gives her a solid foundation in order for her to excel in her new position.

“It’s quickly obvious that Jennifer is the type to take a task and run with it,” Simmons said. “We feel so lucky to have her join the team.”

Now a little over a month on the job, and everything is peachy.

“I really love my job so far,” Keitzman admitted. “The people I am working with are great, I enjoy meeting the locals and business owners in Chelan and the opportunity to tap into my creativity is very rewarding. I’m excited and looking forward to getting started developing and implementing programs and events for this lovely historic town of Chelan.”

Some of the summer concerts “Music in the Prak’’ already planned include:
• Wednesday, June 7, 4 to 6 p.m.
Jefferson Street Parade Band & Environmental Encroachment. Sponsored by RE/MAX Advantage Lake Chelan and Stormy Mountain Brewery
 • Wednesday, July 26, 4 to 6 p.m.  , Nic Allen. Sponsored by RE/MAX Advantage Lake Chelan
 • Wednesday, August 23, 4 to 6 p.m., Bryson Evans. Sponsored by RE/MAX Advantage Lake Chelan

Keitzman said they are also in the process of planning the Sip & Stroll event in September and Small Town Christmas.
