HDCA announces 'Dogs Night Out' First Friday event for Sept. 3
If you hear someone say "Downtown Chelan is going to the dogs!" they're referring to Dogs' Night Out, the First Friday event planned for Sept. 3 by the Historic Downtown Chelan Association.

Dogs' Night Out will take place in Historic Downtown Chelan from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3. Dogs are invited to bring their humans for a bone-ified good time. Activities include an Agility Obstacle Course and Doggie-do Relay presented by Jon Luke of Chelan Dog, as well as a chance to win some doggone great prizes from Whaley's General Store as a winner in the Dogs' Night Out Photo Contest (photos taken by GoLakeChelan.com with online voting for Cutest, Most Elegant, Most Unique and Dog/Owner Look-a-Like). Canines can snack at Whaley's General Store's Doggie Treat Café and at participating First Friday merchants, then relax at Coldwell Banker's Doggie Pool Party or pamper themselves with grooming touch-ups from Yuppy Puppy or at Auntie Donna's Dog Massage Station at Spirals.

Another round of illegal dumping at Habitat store
Staff at the Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity thrift store arrived Tuesday to find more illegal dumping behind the store. Store Manager Dian Hammontre said people have been dumping garbage behind the store with greater frequency and they are working on better ways to catch violators. City ordinance carries a $300 penalty for illegal dumping within the city limits. The store's summer hours are Monday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Assistant Store Manager Catharine Morehead suggested donors arrive 15 minutes before closing time.
