Recording artist Joseph Konty will perform his blend of modern pop, soul and R&B at the NCNB Riverwalk Concert Series on July 18. Joseph is a rising singer and guitarist from Portland with extensive performing experience in the Northwest. He recently released his fourth recording, "Modern Live Sessions."
"He's a very captivating performer," said event organizer Jaye Payne. "He's got a lot of energy that just radiates through the crowd."
Konty draws his musical inspirations from Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Boyz II Men, and Motown. His soulful guitar performance comes from the sounds of gospel, R&B and soul music.
"Many guitar players try and choose guitar heroes, but for me I really did not have any. I tried, but in the end it was just sounds that influenced me. I like anything catchy, tasty or well-put. However, I will state that Prince is beyond ... the man's a genius," Konty said.
Konty opened last year at the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland, the largest blues gathering west of the Mississippi. He brings a six-piece group of well-established musicians to support his performance\. This is the second performance in the five-part NCNB Riverwalk Concert Series.
All concerts take place at Riverwalk Park in downtown Chelan. This picturesque park hosts an amphitheatre overlooking the Chelan River. The series is free an open to all ages. A beverage garden and food from local vendors will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs. For a full concert schedule, go to www.lakechelan.com, or call the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-4CHELAN.
