Amber Schlenker
Assistant Editor

Maymie Wise Cozart celebrated her 100th birthday at Starr Retirement Home with her family and friends last Saturday afternoon. Cozart is the daughter of Fred and Edith Wise, who were pioneers to the local area. She was born in Union Valley in 1914 and raised in the local area. The Wise family has ties to the local area, and have earned a feature at the Chelan Museum as a pioneer family. Her parents were also said to have helped found the Lake Chelan Community Hospital, while many of her sisters and relatives served as Manson Apple Blossom Queens. Celebrating her century-long life are (back row L-R) Cheryl Wood, Jeanne Heikel, Janice Cozart, Nan Welty-Larson and Joe Wood; and in the front row are the two sisters, Edna Anderson, who is 95-years-old; and the birthday girl herself, Maymie Wise Cozart.
