Chelan schools set bus schedules
Welcome back for the 2010-11 school year and we hope you had a wonderful summer vacation. Following are the route schedules to start school. We have times and stops available for you to see when the bus will be there to pick up and drop off your child. These times are estimates, so please be out five minutes early to catch the bus. If the routes have major changes after school starts, we will send home letters to parents on the bus changes. If your exact address is not on the bus list, then your stop will be at the nearest point to your house. As always, you can call transportation to ask questions for more clarification. 509-682-2442. Thank you for being part of Lake Chelan School District for those that are new to the district and once again, welcome back to those that have been with us prior.

Ready for the big time
Chelan kids got a head start on kindergarten, and had some fun, at this summer's Morgen Owings Elementary Kinder Camp. "It gives them a chance to get a taste of school," said Principal Jeff Peck. "They get a little bit of a jumpstart." The camp also relieves anxiety from both the kids and the parents, he said. It's an eight-day program, running from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the kids going through some of a school day's routine activities, including standing in a lunch line, observing school rules and using the playground, as well as practicing their letters and numbers. They also take the school bus in the morning and to get home. Irali Ramirez took a break from drawing to smile at the camera, before the children cleaned up their things and got ready to leave for the day.
