Winterfest begins this weekend

Fire, ice and all things that make winter nice is again coming to the Lake Chelan area.
Over the next two weekends, Chelan and Manson will be full slates of activities from ale tasting, to ice sculpture carving and everything in between.
The annual Winterfest is slated to begin this Friday, Jan. 10, from 5 to 10 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 10
The two-weekend event begins this coming weekend at Lake Chelan with the Winterfest Alefest this Friday in Manson.
With 15 breweries, distilleries and cider companies on tap, the event is sure to be a hit with ale connoisseurs.
Located at the Manson Bay Marina in Downtown Manson, Winterfest Alefest will include sample craft beers from local breweries and a selection of hard ciders, as well as one vendor serving spirits.
The Winterfest Alefest will take place Friday, Jan. 10 from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 11 from 3 to 10 p.m.
Festival Admission is required to participate in the Winterfest Alefest. Admission to Winterfest is $7 if pre-purchased by Jan. 9 and $10 at the event. A family of four is discounted at $25 pre-purchase, $35 at the event.
Alefest admission requires a Winterfest admission button and is also $25 at the door for a one-day pass, and includes a tasting glass and 10 tasting tokens. Tastes range from 1-2 tokens each and additional tokens are available for $1.
A two-day pass to Winterfest Alefest is $35 at the door.
Beer will be on tap from several area breweries, including No-Li Brewhouse of Spokane, Bale Breaker Brewing Company of Yakima, Big Sky Brewing Company of Missoula, Mont., Harmon Brewing Company of Tacoma, Wallace Brewing of Wallace, Idaho, Methow Valley Brewing Company of Twisp, Fremont Brewing Company of Seattle, Icicle Brewing Company of Leavenworth, Iron Horse Brewery of Ellensburg, Badger Mountain Brewery of Wenatchee, Elysian Brewing Company of Seattle, Ninkasi Brewing Company of Eugene, Ore., and Lake Chelan Brewing Company of Manson.
Cider will also be served at Alefest from Schilling Cider and Lake Chelan Hard Cider. Spirits will be served from local Chelan business, Blue Spirits Distilling.
This is a 21-and-over only area. Photo ID's will be required for entry.
Saturday, Jan. 11
In downtown Manson, Saturday's Winterfest will be hosting the Ice Sculpture Tour with sculptures at locations around the lake.
Palates will be satisfied as the Taste of Manson, which is slated for the afternoon. From 3 to 5 p.m. the Taste of Manson will be on. Manson restaurants will be debuting and sampling their establishment's signature dish.

Fromaggio - Fromaggio Mac & Cheese and a chocolate gelato filled ginger cookie sandwich dipped in homemade chocolate jalepeno sauce
Troy's Pizza - Mini calzone with a dish of pasta
Orchard Wood Ovens - A slice of wood-fired pizza and salad on the side
Buddy's Tavern - Homemade clam chowder with a mini grilled cheese wedge
Sunset Bar & Grill - Mini Sunset burgers or a side of Sunset fish tacos
Again, Winterfest Alefest is still a go from 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday night.
Promptly at 4 p.m., Skydive Chelan will be conducting an aerial demonstration. Skydivers will plunge from the skies and land on Manson Bay.
Then, as the sun sets, and darkness seems to approach, Manson skies will be lit up with wishes and magic during the Wish Lantern Lighting event, beginning at 6 p.m.
Lanterns will be lit and lifted into the skies, as they carry the owners' personal wish on the lantern. Lanterns are available for $5.
Just after that, the Tower of Fire Ice sculpture will be lit on fire as the day's work melts away into the night.
