It's just a few short weeks until the 5th Annual Lake Chelan Fine Arts Festival starts on Friday, Aug. 15.
The Festival opens at noon on Friday and runs until 8 p.m. On Saturday the hours are 10 a.m. through 8 p.m., and on Sunday, 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. Chelan's Riverwalk Park, conveniently located right in downtown at the corner of Emerson and Wapato Streets, is the venue.
The Fine Arts Festival is sponsored by the Lake Chelan Arts Council, with support from the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, KOZI radio and Lake Chelan Rotary. There will be nearly 40 artist booths with paintings, sculptures, jewelry, fabric art and more available to admire... and purchase.
The music schedule is set. On Friday, Brian Shaffer opens the festival at 1 p.m. All musicians play for two hours. The other Friday musicians are Marcus Ray at 3:30 p.m. and Waterdog at 6 p.m. Saturday, live music kicks off with Dale Ayotte at 1 p.m. At 3 p.m., Q3 will take the stage, and Kayla Good rocks Saturday night starting at 6 p.m. Sunday at 11 a.m. we'll have some mellow jazz, and to close out the festival, Velvet Elvis will play starting at 2 p.m. Many thanks to Arts Council Vice President Connie McKellar for organizing the music!
Don't forget the kids! Arts Council board member Mark Tesch is busily creating one of his signature Cardboard Castles for children to climb on and decorate. They can also make crowns and take some Just-For-Kids, hands-on art classes.
We are sorry to report that Rotary will not be holding their Salmon Barbecue this year, but we know people get hungry while shopping and wandering, so we're working hard to get some refreshments to the park. There are plenty of restaurants in walking distance, also.
"Art by the Foot," a Silent Auction, is underway at Allison's of Manson. The pieces will travel to the Festival and if there are any stops along the way, we'll let you know.
