Candidate filing week concludes, three vying for mayor of Chelan

CHELAN/MANSON/ENTIAT - All positions up for election in Chelan, Manson and Entiat had at least one candidate file during election filing period last week.

City of Chelan has three candidates for Mayor, Mike Cooney, Stan Morse and Bob Goedde. Morse a former councilmember of Chelan and Goedde who was once Chelan Mayor want a chance to serve again.

The City Council positions that are held by Wendy Isenhart and Kelly Allen have new candidates for election.During a council meeting in May, Isenehart  announced that she had no intention of filing again, leaving her spot open. Jon Higgins and John Olson have filed for council member position #1. Allen’s name doesn’t appear on the candidate list. Peter Jamtgaard has filed for position #4. Current councilmembers Ray Dobbs and Servando Robledo are both back seeking re-election.

Kimberly Thorpe and Andrew Baker are both looking to gain a spot as District #4 school board member for the Lake Chelan School District. Back for re-election are incumbents Agustin Benegas and Jeff Fehr.

Fire Commissioner for District 7, Jay Witherbee will not be running for re-election. William Bassett and Karyl Oules have filed to take over his spot as Commissioner #2.

Hospital District No. 2 has no new candidates as the only ones who filed for Commissioner #3 and #4 are current members Fred Miller and Jordana LaPorte.
