Chelan Chase 5K to be held this Sat., Oct. 20

CHELAN – The 2018 Chelan Chase 5K is set for this upcoming Saturday Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. in downtown Chelan.

The race is open to all runners, walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, families and teams. Competitors will be placed in one of the eight divisions, ranging from under eight all the way to 76 and over.

Proceeds go to the Lake Chelan Community Hospital and Clinics Mammography Department and the Wellness Place.  The LCCHC will provide mammograms at no personal cost, to all individuals who are uninsured or under-insured. The Wellness Place provides support to cancer patients in North Central Washington, some of the services include free wigs, head coverings, nutritional supplements, compression glove/sleeve assistance, prescription assistance, lodging and travel assistance and support groups.

Participants can register from 8:00- 9:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Parish Hall on Woodin Avenue, then at 9:45 a.m. meet by the Riverwalk Park Shelter, the race will start from the “old bridge” at 10:00 a.m. sharp.  

This year the Lake Chelan Rotary Club is organizing the Chelan Chase, at the request of Soroptimist International of Chelan. The Soroptimists will still be involved and the mission of the Chelan Chase will remain the same.

The Chelan Chase run/walk first took place in 1999. Over the last 19 years monies have been raised as part of their fight against cancer.
