Chelan Reruns working on expansion

CHELAN - The high number of donations, plus current merchandise at the Chelan Station Reruns store, gives no other option but to expand their display room by 3,700 square feet.

Store manager Debbie Reed explained that for one there was no room to display every category of goods they have in stock. The additional space will be added towards the back of what is now the furniture warehouse. In it, electrical, lighting and geriatric sections plus remodel items and exercise equipment will be displayed.

In order to clear out the space needed, Reruns stopped taking donations for nearly two months. “We just had to, there was no way the guys had time to do anything else but do donations,” said Reed.

Reruns volunteer John Olson is taking the lead on the project and little by little is organizing the room. With all the renovations happening at the Reruns, Olson’s workshop will be moved to different space away from the shopping area.   

In addition, the Reruns store has added parking signs that direct customers to additional parking adjacent to the store. Reed also emphasized that they are no longer “holding” items for customers. “Now people have to take the items when they are sold,” she said.

Last June, the store had a free parking lot event and Reed mentioned that they are planning another by the end of the summer. “We will probably be doing that twice a year from now on, just to get rid of stuff,” Reed stated.

Reruns is back to accepting donations, however if you are dropping items off, Reed reminds all to do so before 4 p.m. so that it gives the workers time to clear it from the loading dock.

At the moment there is no specific date for the opening of the new area, however Reed said it will be before the end of the summer.

The Chelan Station Reruns store is located at 410 WA-150, Chelan Falls. It is open Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
