Chelan Valley Hope ready to soar into the future

Posted

CHELAN - The tallest of skyscrapers sits upon a solid and deep foundation. So it is with Chelan Valley Hope. CVH Is ready to soar high into the future, firmly based on its 10 year foundational history as a social services non-profit in the Chelan Valley.
Furthering positive changes in people’s lives has been at the heart of this grass-roots agency ever since it emerged out of a community roundtable in 2008. Part time staff and about 15 committed, hard-working volunteers have been addressing homelessness and essential needs in families/individuals who have found themselves in need and crisis.
With seven new members of the board of directors since the first of this year on the nine member board and a new director search underway, an infusion of energy and talents will carry CVH to even higher levels of serving under-resourced clients and the community in general.  Michael Gibb, board president said, “There is a lot of civic value to the worthy and noble things that Chelan Valley Hope does”.  The agency provides a menu of everything from emergency shelter, prevention of utility shut-off, vouchers for gas and groceries, personal hygiene items, and warm clothing in the winter months. Clients are fully assessed and vetted in a confidential and respectful environment, and are encouraged to participate in their own problem-solving plan. CVH helps pave the way to stability, solvency, and long term recovery, through relationship and case management follow-up.
“Each of our board members brings a unique background and special skill set that will support the staff, volunteers, operations, and strategic growth of CVH,” stated Gibb. “I am very excited about new client programming, agency capacities, and operational efficiencies that we will be able to make happen”.
Daily operations, community outreach, and growth management will be facilitated by the new director.
The agency’s biggest fundraiser will take place on August 17 at Watson’s Alpenhorn Cafe “backstage” near the Southshore of Lake Chelan. The 50th Woodstock Anniversary event from 4-9:30 p.m. will include food and beverages for sale, a 1960’s costume contest, a four musical groups including Waterdog, Brittany Jean, and Dan Quigley. Kids under 12 are free and the $20 adult tickets are available at (509) 888-2114 or (509) 449-1913. Join the 250-plus people who enjoy this fun event, support Chelan Valley Hope, and help build further that skyscraper of social services into the sky.
