Posted

ENTIAT - A 48-year old woman was killed in a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon, July 12 on Entiat River Road, approximately 4.5 miles up river from Highway 97 according to a press release from Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Deborah Augustus was heading southbound when a truck driven by 29-year old Walter Wilson of Entiat crossed over the center line and collided with her.

Augustus died at the scene from her injuries with Wilson sustaining minor wounds.

Witnesses reportedly saw Wilson appear to toss beer cans out of the back of his truck and over the embankment before walking up the road.

A Deputy who was fairly close located Wilson minutes later at a residence near by and placed him under arrest. Burnett said they have probable cause to believe alcohol was a factor and obtained a search warrant to draw Wilson’s blood.

Wilson was arrested and booked into Chelan County Regional Justice Center for Vehicular Homicide. Wilson bailed himself out the next day and is now awaiting trial.
