CHELAN/MANSON - U.S. Rep. Dr. Kim Schrier, (Washington 8th District), visited different locations in Chelan and Manson on her July 29 day trip.

During her visit, Schrier toured the Manson Elementary Summer Meals food site, visited Manson High School to talk about school kitchen equipment grants appropriations proposal, visited the new Columbia Valley Community Health facility and toured Chelan Winery. She also participated in a roundtable discussion with the Washington Wine Growers Association and the Chelan Wine Alliance.

Schrier met with different small business owners and some Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce board members for an hour. Chelan City Mayor Mike Cooney was among them, along with Chamber Director and Washington State Representative Mike Steele and Historic Downtown Chelan Association Executive Director Erin McCardle. The roundtable discussion served as a way for small business owners to tell their story on what it is like to own a small business in Chelan. The conversation revolved around shortage of labor in the valley, wages and forest fires.

Steele said that Schrier was very open during the conversations and wanted to receive as much feedback possible.
