Easter egg huts, book sale, an open house and more

Events in Chelan this weekend

CHELAN - After a brief slumber through the bitter winter months the Chelan Valley is about to be re-energized with a few events in addition to the Chelan Earth Day Fair this weekend.

• Manson Parks East Egg Hunt 

The Manson Easter Egg Hunt will take place this Saturday at 10 a.m. for ages 0-3 at Singleton Park, 10:10 a.m. for ages 4-6 at Singleton Park Playground and 10:45 a.m. for ages 7 and above at Manson Bay Park. 

“We’re still working on stuffing the eggs with candy, but we are expecting to have a couple thousand eggs and 15 golden eggs that will be hidden for the older group,” Manson Parks Director Robin Pittman said. “Those will have certificates with a prize number in them and then they can come and exchange that for its corresponding prize. 

• Lake Chelan Eagles / Lions Easter Egg Hunt

The Lake Chelan Eagles and the Lake Chelan Lions club will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15 beginning at 11 a.m. Thousands of eggs filled with candy will be scattered around Don Morse Park for kids of all ages to hunt. 

Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase for a chance to win a new bicycle or Easter basket filled with toys.

• Chelan Fire and Rescue Open House

In conjunction with the Chelan Earth Day Fair, the Chelan Fire and Rescue is holding an Open House at Station 71/Headquarters (corner of Wapato Avenue and Sanders) on how to help keep the community safe. 

Community members are invited to enjoy a tour of the fire station, a free lunch and an opportunity to learn more about the fire department and the services they offer. 

Visitors will be able to learn first hand how they can help and what to do in an emergency as well as see the fire engines and equipment up close. 

Special guests from Chelan Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Life Flight and Rivercom 9-1-1 will also be available to answer questions and provide information on the demands of their job. 

Chelan Fire and Rescue encourages everyone to attend and bring their entire family.

• Chelan Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Chelan Friends of the Library will have their recycled books, audio books and DVD sale at the Chelan Earth Day Fair, April 15, from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. in Riverwalk Park. Come browse and help recycle.

 • HDCA Garage-A-Rama

The Historic Downtown Chelan Association (HDCA) is hosting a Garage-A-Rama on April 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the corner of Woodin Avenue and Columbia Avenue in the Coldwell Banker Parking lot. 

“Shoppers can come downtown to take advantage of great deals before or after enjoying all the Earth Day Fair activities,” HDCA Executive Director Jessie Simmons said. “Garage-A-Rama is the public’s opportunity to scoop up new merchandise at garage sale prices. Bargain hunter’s won’t want to miss this event.”
