CHELAN – EMS Director Karl Jonasson has retired after 28 years of service with Chelan Emergency Medical Services (CEMS). His career was celebrated with friends and family Saturday, Sept. 16 in Chelan. The gathering filled the residential lot with joy and laughter.

Ray Eickmeyer, successor to Jonasson, began a moment of sharing by highlighting the many qualities of his predecessor, and stressing the impact he had on the community. “After 28 years,” started Eickmeyer, “by my calculations you have saved around 30,000 lives.” The impactful statement brought a moment of realization of the lives saved. Eickmeyer concluded his statements with a final tone call out. Story after story was shared on the many ways Jonasson has gone above and beyond the call, out of honor and ethic. In honor of the dedication Jonasson put into his career, Allen Anderson, along with others, presented a shadow box with uniform, stethoscope, a photograph and patches for the recent retiree.
