Two educators with ties to Chelan charged with sexual crimes

WATERVILLE – 26-year-old Roy Figueroa was charged in Douglas County, Wednesday, August 2, with the felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor. If convicted, Figueroa can be sentenced to a six to 12-month sentence, if not criminal record is in place for his alleged interactions with a 16-year-old student in Douglas County.
Figueroa was on staff with Chelan School District as a high school para-educator and baseball coach and had been on staff for two years prior to the alleged incident and investigation that began in May. According to various sources, search warrants of Figueroa’s and the victim’s homes and cell phones resulted in the discovery of over 200 images and approximately two dozen videos which were sent before April 18 and May 4, as well as having each other listed in Snapchat accounts.
Figueroa is accused of having sexual intercourse with the teenage girl in April, near her home in Douglas County. Both Chelan County Detectives and Douglas County Detectives have worked collectively in investigating this case. As of the date of this article, Figueroa has not been arrested and his next court appearance is still unspecified.
Further south, in Walla Walla County, 29-year-old Edwin J. Bush has been charged with two counts of possession of depictions of minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. Bush is accused of “sexting”, sexually charged texting, a teenager over a two-month period beginning last spring. A search of the teen’s cellphone resulting in the discovery of nearly 1,300 messages, and approximately 60 images sent to and from Bush. The teenage girl allegedly admitted to having a sexting relationship with Bush, and exchanging nude photographs of one another.
Bond was set at $30,000 and Bush was booked into Walla Walla County Jail July 27. He posted bond the next day and was released. Court proceedings are scheduled to begin Oct. 31 in Walla Walla County Superior Court.
Bush, a Chelan High School graduate, submitted his resignation as an elementary school teacher and wrestling coach in the Tri-City area, according to sources.
