Mass of Christian Burial Monday, April 1, 11 a.m., St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Chelan, interment in Wenatchee at 1:30 p.m.

Catherine M. Hayes, of Chelan, Washington passed away on the morning of March 25, 2019. Catherine died peacefully, of natural causes, at the Lake Chelan Community Hospital. 

She had lived in Chelan for the past 14 years, but also had lived in East Wenatchee, Washington for many years prior to moving to Chelan. Catherine was born on July 12, 1920, in Ephrata, Washington to Arthur Joseph Reeves and Anna Louise Reeves (Poitras.) She moved with the family to East Wenatchee at a very young age and attended school in East Wenatchee.

Catherine married Clive D. Hayes on November 17, 1951 and after a short time moved to California. After returning to East Wenatchee in the early ‘60s, Catherine went to work as a cashier at the Wenatchee Safeway store. After many years at the Wenatchee store, Catherine transferred to the (then) new Safeway in East Wenatchee and eventually retired from the East Wenatchee Safeway as the Manager of the Floral Department.  Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Clive “Curly” Hayes, daughter Janelle Gilliland and granddaughter Amareena E. Bernal. 

She is survived by her daughter Linda Klingenberg, son Patrick Hayes, grandson Steven Ramos, granddaughters Kreann Harrell, Darcy Klingenberg, Nichole Klingenberg and Kelsey Hayes. Catherine also has eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. 

Catherine loved to read, paint, travel and work in her garden. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a good friend to those who knew her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Chelan.  Services will conclude immediately following the service with interment at Wenatchee Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
