Dollie Alberta Julian Higby

Gathering for family, friends: Saturday, July 27, 11 a.m., Apple Cup Café, Chelan

Dollie Alberta Julian Higby, Wenatchee, Wash. formerly of Chelan died peacefully in her sleep at Regency Nursing Center in Wenatchee, Wash. on March 20, 2019 at the age of 95.

Dollie homesteaded in the Chelan area, where she and her first husband owned Ingram’s Harvestland Fruit Stand. After leaving Chelan, she lived her mid-life in Arkansas, then returned to the Chelan area to live out her final years.

Many will remember Dollie for her salty nature, wicked sense of humor, tiny dogs, large doll collection, and the gorgeous quilts she would meticulously design and craft by hand. We are sure she is at peace, remembering her walks in Riverwalk Park and ending with coffee at the Apple Cup Café.

It was appropriate for Dollie to transition at the arrival of Spring, given her green thumb and devotion to her gardens and pots of beautiful flowers. She was known for her gigantic dinner plate dahlias and giving people gorgeous, hand-picked bouquets.

She is survived by her children: Rita Reinhardt (Don) of Chelan, Wash. and Jerry Ingram, Sr., of Bremerton, Wash. as well as  her grandchildren Amy Martin (Steve) of Mansfield, Wash., Stacey Stahl (Jeff Boyce) of Portland, Oregon and Jerry Ingram, Jr. (Rita) of Bremerton, Wash. She also leaves behind numerous beloved family members including grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. O Higby, and at her request, her headstone for Remembrance will be alongside him in Bentonville, Arkansas.

A gathering for family and friends will be held  this Saturday,  July 27, 11 a.m., at the Apple Cup Café in Chelan.
