Dorothy M. Collins, an 82 year resident of Manson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday July 6, 2017.

She was born November 3, 1930 in Oshkosh, Nebraska to Everett and Emma Smith. They moved to Manson in 1935. She attended Manson Schools.

She met the love of her life Vernon N. Collins and was married in 1947. They had three sons, Dwight born in 1948, Terry ”Bear” born 1949, and Mike born in 1951.

In the early 1950’s Vernon and Dorothy started working with Dorothy’s father on the family farm growing apples and grapes. They took possession of the orchard in the 1960’s. Dorothy also worked outside of the home packing apples at Trout, Inc. now Chelan Fresh. She was an active member of Lake Chelan Community Hospital Guild E for many years. She loved her weekly bridge games with the ladies.

After she and Vernon retired from the apple orchard they traveled by RV and eventually built a house in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. They enjoyed winters in the southwest, where they gambled and golfed. They would return to their home in Manson every spring for the beautiful Lake Chelan summers.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Dwight (Marie) Collins of Chelan, Mike (Rhonda) Collins of Chelan and a sister Vera Goss of Manson. She has 6 Grandchildren, Matthew (Angel) Collins of Wenatchee, Mandy (Jeremy) Avery of Chelan, Casey (Alison) Collins of Parker, Colorado, Shane (Melissa) Collins of Manson, Shannon (Joshua) Collins-Barnes of Manson, and Lisa Collins of Chelan.  She has 12 Great-Grandchildren Dillan, Jeremy, Alex, Aiden, Katherine, Hanna, Kenzie, Alexandria, Warren, Drew, Eric, and Elizabeth and one due in October.  She had a dear friend, Judy Wall of Manson.
