Eva Elizabeth Lambert

February 5, 1922 – December 5, 2018

Chelan, WA

Eva Elizabeth (Coleman) Lambert, 96, of Chelan, WA,  passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of  December 5, 2018, at Regency Harmony House in Brewster, Wash. Eva was born on February 5, 1922, in Edwards County, IL, to parents Ira and Rosa Marie (Wiggins) Coleman. Eva’s mother died when she was just two months old and she was raised by her grandmother, Eva Geer, in Bone Gap, IL. She graduated from Albion Community High School in Albion, IL, and went to a business college nearby. She worked as a secretary during WWII. Eva married Nile Lambert on December 5, 1942, and moved to Chelan, WA, in late 1948.

She was a homemaker and worked hard to raise four children, and manage a small farm that provided most of the food for the family from a large garden as well as chickens, cows, and rabbits. She was always willing to pass along her cooking and canning skills to others in the family. In addition to being a stay at home mom, she also worked for Hallock Trucking as a dispatcher during several harvest seasons.

After Nile died, she moved into Chelan, and turned one corner of her backyard into a bird sanctuary. She loved to sit in her chair and bird watch, matching the different species to the pictures in her bird book. She also loved feeding peanuts to “her” squirrels. Eva was an active member of Chelan Christian Church for over 70 years. She also loved being involved in her grandchildren’s lives through visits, letters, pictures, and emails.

Eva is survived by four children: Rosa Moser (Roger) of Chelan, WA, Peggy McMahon (Brian) of Anchorage, AK, Dan Lambert (Gail) of Wenatchee, WA, and Cindy Kupczynski (Roman) of Chelan, WA; six grandchildren: Sean McMahon (Kat), Katherine McMahon, Jason Lambert (Katie), Mary Lambert, Jarek Kupczynski, and Tanner Kupczynski; four great-grandchildren: Brody Lambert, Cassidy McMahon, William McMahon, and Gabrielle Guenette; two sisters: Esther Presson and June (Bernard) Stennett, both of Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers: Alvin Coleman, and Bob Coleman; and sister, Veda Scott.

A special thanks to all her caregivers over the last ten years, especially to Marty, Betty, Karen, Maria, Alexis, and the staff at Regency Harmony House.

Visitation was held at Chelan Christian Church, 210 E. Wapato, Chelan, WA, on Monday, December 10, 2018.

A Memorial Service is being planned for the spring of 2019.
