Marci Ann (Kettrick) James, age 51, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. She was born on March 16, 1967 in Seattle, Washington. Her parents, Nancy M. (Kettrick) Farmer and Kenneth E. Kettrick raised Marci and her brother Mitchell in North Seattle. Marci attended St. Marks Parish School, and later graduated in 1985 from Holy Names Academy, Seattle Washington. While attending Washington State University, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, graduating in 1989 with a degree in Elementary Education. In 1989, Marci married Michael R. James of Chelan, Washington. Both Marci and Michael started their teaching careers on the west side of the state in the Everett area. In 1997, the family moved to Chelan to raise their three sons, Tyler, Bryan, and Kyle. Both Marci and Michael continued their teaching careers at Morgen Owings Elementary. Marci loved being a teacher. She was truly talented as an educator, well loved by students and staff. She always approached teaching with joy and compassion, loving her students and helping each student discover the joy of learning.

Marci also loved being with her boys. During the summers, she enjoyed family time with camping trips and afternoons at the lake. She enjoyed supporting her boys in their many activities from music concerts to athletics. After moving to Chelan, Marci was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

From teaching religious class for children to the annual Christmas pageant, Marci was very involved with her church. She later became a member of Real Life Lake Chelan, participating in several small groups. Sadly, in 2014, Marci started her long four and half year battle with cancer. As her illness continued to progress, she left teaching in 2016. Despite struggles and challenges with her illness, she maintained a positive, upbeat attitude, with her quick wit and smile, appreciating each and every day.

Marci is survived by her husband, Michael James; their sons, Tyler (& Annie Milligan James), Bryan James, Kyle James; Marci’s brother Mitchell (& Carla) Kettrick; her parents Nancy (Kettrick) Farmer and husband, Rusty Farmer; Ken Kettrick; and Charles James. Marsha James and Barbara (McMillan) Kettrick preceded her in death. Services for Marci will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Chelan High School Performing Arts Center. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to The Community Center at Lake Chelan.
