Ronald Hemmer, a lifelong resident of Chelan, passed away on December 26, 2018 at the Harmony House in Brewster, Washington after a courageous struggle with cancer. Ron was born on October 17, 1952 in Chelan, Washington to Irene and Ray Hemmer. He lived his entire life in Chelan and graduated from Chelan High School in 1972. Ron was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years.

Ron was a kind and loving man who will be remembered for his ability to vividly remember events from his life and the lives of others. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed having lengthy conversations with his friends and family. He loved dogs and cats, watching old western movies, and talking about cars. Ron lived a simple life, yet touched the lives of so many others in unique ways.

He is survived by his sister, Julie Winchell, and her husband, Steve, of Arlington, WA, and their daughter, Katherine, who currently lives in San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his cousins, his many friends in Chelan, and the caring members of his church. His family is especially grateful to his longtime caregiver, Karen Greenway, those friends and relatives that visited him and sent him cards during these last two months of his life, and also for the caring and compassionate staff at the Harmony House. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Chelan on Friday, January 4, at 12:00 p.m. Precht Rose Chapel is arranging the services. Memorial donations can be made in his name to St. Francis Catholic Church or to OCTN, the non-profit company that provides home-delivered meals to seniors in this region.
