Sara (Sally) Ann Quigley

Services Sept. 19

Posted

Sara Ann Quigley passed away quietly on August 26, 2017 at Regency Wenatchee surrounded by her children as well as nieces and nephews, and five grandchildren.

Sara was known to all her friends and family as Sally, and oddly enough it means ‘Princess’ in Hebrew. If the word is taken to mean ‘one who expects to be treated like royalty’ she was anything but a princess, as she was humble and gracious. But if taken to mean ‘one in the royal line of God’s children’ whose mother is the Queen Virgin Mary, then she would claim that distinction all day long! Sally had a special devotion to her faith and to the Virgin Mary.

Sally was born and raised in Morton, Pennsylvania with her brother Joe Mullen and sister Mary. She became a nurse and worked in several hospitals, and eventually worked at Regency Manor in Chelan, Wash. for over 25 years.

Sally married Donald Quigley on February 15, 1958 and they had 5 children together. She was married to an Air Force pilot which led her to moving from Pennsylvania to the Philippines, Texas, Oregon, Idaho, and finally Manson, Wash. She made friends wherever she was planted.

Although severely burned, Sally survived a house fire in Boise, Idaho that claimed the life of her only daughter, Mary Agnes, in 1970.

Sally is survived by her sister Mary, and her sons, Gerard, Dan, Joe, and Chris. As well as her grandchildren, Jesse Quigley, Gabriel Quigley, Olivia Quigley, Jessica Newley, Taylor Quigley, and Evan Quigley.

Sally will be remembered for her warm friendship and loyalty, as well as a great mother and wife. She was very active in her church, Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Chelan, Wash. She loved being a part of the choir at the church and always hit the high harmonies for any hymn! Ave Maria! She was a prayerful woman of God who always gave in anyway she could to help someone in need. She handmade rosaries to be sent around the world with missionaries.

A Rosary will be held in her honor on Sunday, September 17 at 7 p.m., at Saint Francis de Sales Church, Chelan. All are welcome and will receive a free rosary.

A Funeral Mass will be offered for Sally on Monday, September 18 at 7 p.m., at St. Francis also.

Internment will be at the Chelan Fraternal Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Donald James Quigley. This will take place at 9 a.m. at the cemetery on Tuesday, September 19 .

Music was such a large part of her life, all donations can be made in her memory to the Saint Francis de Sales Music Ministry, 215 W. Allen, Chelan WA 98816.
