Stella C. Walcker & Elmer Eugene Walcker

Stella C. Walcker, 89, of Chelan, Wash died peacefully at home on September 20, 2018.

Stella was born Stella C. Ness in Monroe, Washington July 21, 1929. Her parents were Anton and Stella Ness.  She grew up  in Gold Bar, Wash and graduated from Sultan High where she was a cheerleader.

She worked as a beautician until 1949 when she married Elmer E. Walcker her high school sweetheart.

Stella and Elmer moved to Mountlake Terrace, Wash in the early 50's and then to their home in Lynnwood, Wash in 1958.  

A homemaker, Stella was active in PTA and was a room mother for one of her children's classes every year.

Stella and Elmer began building homes and renting out properties with Elmer doing the building and Stella managing the properties and designing  homes.  She had a natural and practical gift for designing houses.

She was a former president of the Lynnwood Emblem club.

She and Elmer moved to Chelan in the mid 80’s and became owners and managers of the Caravel Resort Hotel. Now GrandView On the Lake.

Stella was a very gentle soul, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer E. Walcker who died on July 5, 2018.

She is survived by son John Walcker and his wife Sue Walcker, son Dennis Walcker and daughter Kristina Powers and her husband Cameron Powers, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Elmer Eugene Walcker,. 89, a resident of Chelan, Washington died in Wenatchee, July 5, 2018 after a short illness.

Elmer was born in Turtle Lake, North Dakota to Sophia Heinle Walcker and John J. Walcker on February 28, 1929. Early in life his family moved to Startup, Washington.

A graduate of Sultan High School. He married Stella C. Ness on February 12, 1949. Elmer worked for the Great Northern Railroad starting on the section and working his way to Engineer.

In the late 60's he started his own building business, Walcker Enterprises, later to be called Walcker Homes, which he ran with his two sons for many years in the Lynnwood, Washington area.

In the mid 80's he and his wife Stella moved to Chelan, Wash and took over management and ownership of the then Caravel Hotel.

A prankster in his adolescents' Elmer would be known through the years for his sense of humor and his generosity.

His wife Stella C. Walcker followed him in death, September 20, 2018

He is survived by son John Walcker and his wife Sue Walcker, son Dennis Walcker and daughter Kristina Powers and her husband Cameron Powers, 4 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.

There will be a joint memorial gathering for Elmer and Stella at 1 p.m. October 13, 2018 at GrandView On the Lake, 322 W. Woodin Ave, Chelan, WA 98816
