William R. Fisher

William R. Fisher went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2017 with family at his side.

Bill was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Ode Lee and Opal Oma Fisher in 1932.  He graduated from Columbia Military Academy, Southern Methodist University and Baylor School of Medicine. After internship he joined the Navy as a flight surgeon. He was eventually assigned to Whidbey Island, from which he discovered Washington State.

He was married to Vanette Burns in 1956 and had they three children, William Jr., Adrianne, and Roberta (Bobbi). After leaving the Navy, Dr. Fisher bought his Chelan medical practice in 1962. In 1963 he, along with Dr. Beall and Dr. Berry built the Lake Chelan Clinic. In 1972 Bill was married to Susan Mayer. They had a daughter Julianne, who joined Susan’s daughters Christina and Melia. 

In 1986 he accepted a medical position on Kwajalein, Marshall Island. Bill practiced there until 1992, before retiring to Lake Chelan. After retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending the winters in California.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

William is survived by his wife, Susan, his children, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his brother, Bob.

Services will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on November 25 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.
