TEE Time

Under sunny skies last Thursday, May 18, the weekly competition was Medal Play with 23 ladies out on our beautiful course.  This was also Round 3 of our Apple Blossom Tourney.  

Apple Blossom Tourney – Exciting and fun matches were played in Round 3.  Nancy Storaasli and Carol Ferguson went head to head for 20 holes before Carol pulled off a match play win.  Joni Dedo thumped Alice Soma in match play but they both had a fun day in “the spirit of the game.”

On June 1 two final matches will be played for Round 4.  Carol Ferguson plays Barb Rayburn in the Apple Blossom Tourney Champion.  Joni Dedo plays the winner of the Round 3 match between Linda Hahn and Gail Peterson, which will be played by May 31.

Competition – Medal Play Low Gross of the Field was Barb Rayburn (92) and Low Net of the Field was Mary Jo DuRuz (70) .  Winners for Division 1 were Janet Foyle (75) 1st and Bonnie Fortner (76) 2nd.  Division 2 winners were Karen Holst (74) 1st Low Net and Judy Johanson (75) 2nd.  Division 3 winners were Pam Zent (75) 1st Low Net and Joni Dedo (77) 2nd Low Net.

The lone birdie and one of three chip-ins this week went to Roxanne Emerson (#11).  The two other chip-ins were made by Karen Holst (#8) and Gail Bender (#6).

Away Events – In the 2017 Wenatchee Spring Fling three Chelan Ladies placed.  Judy Johanson (136) was 1st Low Gross for Division 3 and was on the 2nd place Best Ball  winning team.  Candice Farnsworth (99) won 3rd place Low Gross for Division 2.   Susie Martin (80) was 4th in Low Net in Division 3.

 For those of you that like to play in couples tournaments, the Sagebrush Couples at Soap Lake’s Lakeview Golf and Country Club’s tournament is June 24 and 25.  There are applications on their website and April Talley will post a few in our ladies locker room.  It’s a fun tournament-Chapman format.  They sell Mulligans and do some fun side things.

 Nine n’ Dine is a fun golf game and dinner held Monday afternoons.  All golfers are welcome to join the fun.  Ask at CJS on the Course for the weekly sign-up sheets.  Nine n’ Dine is scheduled to start June 5.

 Competition for Thursday, May 25 is “3-4-5” which uses the gross score of 3 par 3 holes, 4 par 4 holes, and 2 par 5 holes, less half handicap.  The Shotgun start is 9 a.m., with check in at 8:30 a.m..
 
Apple Valley League Tea is joining us for the 9 a.m. Shotgun with our club hosting is the AVWGA May matches.
