Tee Time - June 22

CHELAN - Beautiful Chelan summer weather made golfing oh so pleasant for the 30 ladies coming out for the competition this week.  The competition game was “All Fours” adding the gross scores from all 10 par 4 holes less half  handicap.  The outstanding golfer in the foursome starting at 18B, Joan Pierce, made a suggestion to Judy Johanson, competition chairperson, to drop any one of the par 4 holes from the golfer’s game score.  Judy liked the suggestion and will figure out how to incorporate the change for next season’s competition.

 Weekly Competition – Winners for Division 1 were 1st – Barb Rayburn (41), 2nd – Carol Ferguson (41.5), and 3rd – Jaclyn Starr-Evans (42).  Division 2 saw Judy Johanson and Janet Kophs (41.5) tied for 1st place and Gail Bender (44) in 3rd place.  In Division 3 were 1st –Karen Erickson (39), 2nd – Sherry Fisk (44.5), and 3rd – Jean Nickle (48.5). 

Birdies were made by Barb Rayburn (#4 & #9), Linda Reister (#18), and Karen Holst (#11). 

Chip-ins went to Linda Parker (#3), Judy Johanson (#6), Mary Couchee (#10), Jaclyn Starr-Evans (#10), Janet (#10), and Barb Rayburn (#17).

Competition for Thursday, June 29 is: “Odd Nine” gross score on all odd numbered holes less half handicap.  Tee off time is 8:30 a.m., please check in by 8:00 a.m.

Apple Valley Team – Team travelled to the Yakima Elks Country Club Course for team competition on June 15.  Team members these matches were:  April Talley, Barb Rayburn, Elona Teague, Corky Sessous, Linda Reister, and Carol Ferguson. 

Chelan’s Team played matches against the Apple Tree Team.  Considering that most of the golfers playing for Apple Tree typically play at Yakima Elks, they were strong opponents.  However Chelan prevailed holding onto the #1 position for net points, and 2nd position in both Overall and Gross points.  Linda and Carol earned about 23 points combined for a big win.  It was a cool day, but the rain held off until the last hole.

The next match is in Ellensburg, July 14.  Ladies’ Club members who would like to play on our team should sign up on thesheet downstairs in the locker room. 

 Ladies Member-Guest theme is Almost Fashionable on July 27.  Our Member-Guest event is meant to be a fun yet serious competition and this year the committee, Mary Jo DuRuz, Jane Storms, Jani Sharp, and Mary Couchee, hopes to add a lot of fun with a few side games to the sober Alternate Shot format. 

The entry forms were emailed to all Club members by Sunday, June 25 with printed forms available in the locker room by June 29.  The sign ups begin before competition on Thursday, June 29 and close on July 20.  The $56 entry fee must be received to go on the sign up list.  Contact Jani Sharp with questions and comment jsharp@nwi.net 425-478-0538.
