Posted

CHELAN – The 2018 Lake Chelan School District spelling bee took place, Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Performing Arts Center at Chelan High School. Spellers from fourth through eighth grade went head to head in competition for a chance to head to regionals, which is scheduled to be held at Eastmont High School in March.

Taking first place was Cray Silva, with Charlie Morgan following in second place and Caleb Bertomeu as alternate.

The nine-round, single-elimination spelling bee went a full nine rounds, starting with words such as skim and elm, and concluded with a higher difficulty of words including mandible and conundrum, before reaching the final championship word of piteously.

Make sure you pick up a copy of the Feb. 21 issue of the Lake Chelan Mirror for the rest of the story!
