Manson School Board Superintendent Matt Charlton served as the word reader for the event, and was forced to take two breaks during the event to go to the judges and look up tougher words for the competitors. Although Grant and Aston made it to 18 rounds, there were a total of four competitors that made it to the 17th round. Ultimately it was one of the longest spelling rounds Manson has ever experienced. Both spellers will now move on to the NCW Collaborative Spelling Bee in East Wenatchee on March 16.
