Coldwell Banker Cascade Real Estate launches Fall Coat Drive for school kids

Giving back to the community is part of the firm’s DNA

CHELAN - When the fall weather turns chilly and students doff their shorts and t-shirts in search of warmer clothing, local real estate offices of Coldwell Banker Cascade recognize the need.

“Approximately 42 percent of the student body from K-12 are eligible for free or discounted lunch programs, indicating they are below the poverty line. So, the Coldwell Banker Cascade real estate ‘star teams’ jump in to help,” Coldwell Banker Cascade Owner Adam Rynd said.

“We evaluated numerous ways to meet the kids’ needs, and we kept coming back to organizing a Fall Coat Drive, in conjunction with local non-profits in each community we serve,” Coldwell Banker Cascade’s Director of People Development Kate Waag explained. “All of our Coldwell Banker Cascade offices from Chelan to Methow, Wenatchee, and Goldendale are taking part, with the entire ‘star team.’ Nearly 100 employees, management brokers and agents pitch-in, as they can.”

Starting Nov. 1 through Dec. 10, donations of new and slightly worn, clean coats, vests and parkas will be collected at the Coldwell Banker Cascade real estate sales offices in Chelan, Goldendale, Wenatchee and Wintrop. Then, they are sorted, cleaned, and transferred to local charity partners for distribution to needy kids.

Serving Central Washington for approximately 40 years, Coldwell Banker Cascade donates more than 1% of its gross revenue to community service organizations. Since 2015, Coldwell Banker Cascade has collectively given more than $600,000 – which is more than all other local real estate companies combined.

While many of the donations to charities are primarily cash donations, the firm and Coldwell Banker Cascade agents will also forgo their earned commissions on listings and sales for non-profit organizations. Typically, they are in the range of $40,000 per year.

Making dollar donations doesn’t stop the Coldwell Banker Cascade brokers from giving. Many are also active community volunteers who serve as mentors, coaches, event volunteers, and non-profit directors. They share their time and expertise to improve the quality of life in several Central Washington communities.

“Our charitable giving program is unique and worth celebrating,” Adam Rynd said. “Many of our clients seek shared values from businesses and professionals with whom they choose to work. I trust our fellow neighbors will agree. In the meanwhile, we urge you to donate to the coat drive and become a star on the team.”
