Recap: The Manson girls stay undefeated in the Central Washington B league (6-0) and improve to 7-2 overall on the season. The young team went out and won 3 of the five matches. The #1 Doubles team of Stella Petersen and Kayden Koth played amazing and didn’t let the wind phase them. They dominated points at the net and made Tonasket hit difficult shots all day. The match was tied 2-2, and after a short rain delay it came down to the #1 singles match between Olivia Smith and Jazmine Salazar which was entering the 3rd set. Olivia played every point like it was match point and ended up winning the 3rd set 6-3. Olivia has played some tough matches all year as the #1 singles player and this time she dug down deep to find the way to win. The coaches are very proud of Olivia’s effort today.

Recap: The boys continued their great play and remain undefeated on the year. They improved to 9-0 on the season and 6-0 in the Central Washington B league. #1 singles Ben Cullison continues to dominate, and made quick work at #1 singles 6-1, 6-1. Ben Rasmusson made his singles debut at #2 singles and defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-4. Ben Rasmusson will continue to improve and should be fun to watch down the stretch. When his first serve is on, it’s very difficult for any opponent to return. Another exciting part of the day was to watch Lukas Torgesen make his varsity debut at #2 doubles alongside Senior Nate Katzer. They played efficiently and won 6-0, 6-0. Lukas is another young player that will be fun to watch in the future. The #1 doubles team of Cavan Willard and Sam Richmond played some of the best tennis they have played all year. They worked on reducing errors and capitalized on shots they could place. Eli Willard continued his excellent play at #3 singles and he remains undefeated on the year as well (9-0).
The Trojans traveled to Okanogan onSaturday, April 22. This week they will have one match home against Liberty Bell.

Moses Lake @ Chelan,
non-league
What a great day of tennis! The match was in Chelan, which would usually dictate a 1A varsity format of 7 players (3 singles and 2 doubles), but we attempted to “play up” to the 10 player 4A format of 4 singles and 3 doubles, and it turned out very very well! Our depth of ladder was a visible strength today.
Girls: Chelan 7, Moses Lake 0
#1 Singles: Arden Paglia def Claire Thomas 6-0, 6-2
#2 Singles: Oliva Strandberg def Kay Trinnaman 6-0, 6-0
#3 Singles: Caelan Rothlisberger def Amanda Salas 6-2, 6-2

The Chelan girls move to 10-1 on the season, and will attempt to clinch an outright CTL title via an undefeated league season @ Cashmere on Tuesday. Right now, the Chelan girls are 7-0 in league play, with their toughest competition being that Cashmere squad. The early season match vs Cashmere in Chelan the first time through the schedule was a nail-biter, with Chelan eking one out 3-2!

#1 Singles: Marwan Warwick (ML) def Rylen Moody 6-1, 6-3
#2 Singles: Roman Jenks (ML) def Sam Bordner 6-0, 6-2

#2 Doubles: Emit Madsen/Carson Owens (ML) def Caleb & Tristan Sanderson 6-3, 6-0
#3 Doubles: Sawyer Jeffries/George Neff (Ch) def Ollie Madsen/Daniel Bowen 6-4, 6-4
It was a great opportunity for the Chelan boys to play one of the top teams in the Big 9, and “work on some stuff”. The top of the Moses Lake lineup is very impressive. We needed to compete against a top shelf program this time of year to find out what we needed to work on for the postseason. The Chelan boys are now 8-3 on the season, and have already clinched a regular season CTL title. Their goal is to finish an undefeated league schedule on Tuesday in Cashmere.
Our depth was also evident in these JV wins:
Keira Gjerde/Signe Lillie 6-2
Maddie Cowan/Josie Bekel 6-1
Kyle and Sean Rynd 6-1
Elijah Moody/Nic Diaz-Manda 6-2
Ben Brownfield/Anthony Tejada 7-5
Nic Diaz-Manda/Anthony Tejada 6-4
Elijah Moody in singles 6-0

Chelan golf team had their first league match today on a sunny but windy day which made it seem a lot colder than the temperature would suggest. Quincy was in town but with only two girls and one boy it was almost an intrasquad match. Chelan’s Carson Clinton (9th grade) led all golfers with a 9-over 81. Carson struggled a bit on the front nine but came back and played better on the back 9. Also scoring better than previous matches were Chelan’s John Ludwig (10th grade) with a 96, Rocco Domser (8th grade) with a 105, and Chase Woodley (11th grade) with a 107.
For the Chelan girls, Arabelle Finch (11th grade) led us with a 116, Kira Sandoval (12th grade) had a 117, and Malie Benson (12th grade) with a 123. The girls are still trying to find more consistency in their games and hopefully with more time and with practices on an actual golf course we will soon be getting that from them, and with all our players.
April 20
A cool, cloudy and eventually rainy day awaited the Chelan and Cascade golfers at the Lake Chelan Golf Course today, as Chelan hosted the Leavenworth golfers. Chelan came out on top for both girls and boys team scores with the Chelan girls besting Cascade 467 to 514, and the Chelan boys with a 387 to Cascade’s 422.
Leading Chelan girls with a personal best score was Arabelle Finch (11th grade) coming in with a breakthrough score of 93, and we’re looking forward to her continuing with more personal bests as this season is (quickly) progressing.
For the boys, several Chelan boys made some great progress with Rocco Domser (8th grade) breaking into the 90s with a 98, and Grant Coonrod (9th grade) just missing the 90s with an even 100.
Chelan has a full match schedule this week with an away match with Omak on Monday, April 24, a home match with Omak again on Wednesday, April 26, and an away match with Quincy on Thursday, April 27).
I would like to express our team’s encouragement and hope for a full recovery of our teammate Jailyn and her dad after a very serious recent car accident - we miss you and hope you both are doing better.
I also wanted to give some accolades to our Manson golfer who is practicing and playing with us this year - Wyatt Winters (8th grade) had a great day on the course and was the medalist for the boys, coming in with a hot 2-over par 74, and that even with a double bogey and two bogeys on the last 4 holes (finishing on hole #1). Great job Wyatt.
