Lake Chelan United Methodist Church:
Dec. 24, 25
CHELAN - Lake Chelan United Methodist Church, corner of Johnson Avenue and Emerson Street will hold a Candlelight Christmas Eve Service on Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Dec. 24 at 10 a.m., they will hold a casual Christmas Morning Worship Service. All are welcome to attend.

Chelan Christian Church: Dec. 24, 25
CHELAN - Chelan Christian Church, 210 E Wapato Ave., will conduct the following Christmas services: Christmas Eve, December 24 at 7 p.m., Worship service, “Jesus is the Heart of Christmas” with Scripture Reading of Matthew 1:18-25. Everyone is invited to participate in song and candle lighting.

SAIL Exercise Classes: Dec. 21-22, 26-27
CHELAN - SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) fitness classes are offered at Chelan Senior Center on Monday and Wednesday at 1 p.m. and are taught by Beth Shaw and Linda Hollier. Evening SAIL classes are Monday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m., also at the Chelan Senior Center and are taught by Ann Cooper. A SAIL class is offered to residents of Heritage Heights Assisted Living in Chelan on Mondays and Fridays at 2 p.m. taught by Gaylen Willett and Steve Davis.

Chelan Fire & Rescue: Dec. 21
CHELAN - The Chelan Fire & Rescue Board of Commissioners will conduct the meeting in person at the fire station, 232 E. Household hazardous waste drop off:

WENATCHEE - Drop-off Saturday is Jan. 7 at the Chelan County Moderate Risk Waste Facility on Highway 97A. The facility is open the first Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every week, they are open Tuesday through Friday the same hours. Drop off your household hazardous wastes and latex paint. This is a free service to Chelan County residents. Chelan Transfer Station closed Sat., Dec. 24
CHELAN - Closed on Saturday, Dec. 24, will be both the Dryden and Chelan Transfer Stations as well as the Chelan County Moderate Risk Waste Facility. The three county facilities will re-open to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

CHELAN - The Chelan Senior Center at 534 E. Trow Avenue, hosts Senior Meals Monday-Friday. Suggested donation for seniors over age 60 is $4. Fee for persons under age 60 is $10. Chelan, Manson Holiday events: Dec. 21-31
CHELAN/MANSON: Small Town Holidays in Historic Downtown Chelan continues through the month of December with Santa visits, firework displays every weekend, free holiday matinees, and special events at wineries, boutiques, and restaurants across the valley. Chelan Valley Hope: Dec. 21-22, 27-29
CHELAN - Whether you are celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza, Yule (Winter Solstice), Las Posadas, the end of a year, different cultural practices or no cultural practices, Chelan Valley Hope would like to wish you happy holidays and let you know that you are in their thoughts during this holiday season. While this has been a challenging year for all of us, they encourage you to join them in being thoughtful by reaching out to the people you love to let them know how much you appreciate them.
Holiday hours reminder: Chelan Valley Hope will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2. Their Little Essentials Pantry and Library is open 24/7 and is stocked with blankets, coats, water, toiletries, and much more. Donations are welcome and can be left during business hours, or give them a call and they’ll gladly make arrangements. They currently need blankets, diapers, and travel-size toiletries. VFW #6853 Post Coffee/Donuts: Dec. 23
CHELAN - Every Friday VFW Post #6853, located at 427 S. Bradley Street is open 9-11 a.m. for donuts and coffee and conversation. Veterans are invited to join them every Friday.
Manson Grange: Dec. 27
MANSON - The Manson Grange #796 will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 6-8:30 p.m., at the grange hall located at 157 E. Wapato Way.

CHELAN - The Lake Chelan Food Bank food giveaway is on Saturday and Tuesday, 9-10 a.m. Distribution is  drive-thru. They are located at 417 S. Bradley Street. The Food Bank is getting requests for pet food. Small bags of dog food are best. They can be dropped of at the Lake Chelan Mirror office, 131 S. Apple Blossom Drive, Ste. 109 (Chelan Business Center.)
Lake Chelan Food Bank PB&J food drive: Dec. 27-31
CHELAN - The Lake Chelan Food Bank is doing a Peanut Butter and Jelly, aka PB&J food drive the entire month of December. They are in desperate need of PB&J ingredients for their clients.  Donations may be dropped off in the Lake Chelan Food Bank bins at these local businesses: Campbell’s Resort, Lake Chelan Building Supply in Manson, the Lake Chelan Lions Club Christmas tree sales at Lakeview Drive-In; at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce at the Christmas tree display and at the Lake Chelan Mirror office.

Glass recycle: Jan. 1

CHELAN - Rotary of Lake Chelan 911 Glass Rescue is open on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon, at 23235 Highway 97A across from Walmart. They are charging a small fee per pound for glass drop-off. Buckets of the materials produced, sand and aggregate, will be available for purchase at $5 per 5-gallon bucket. City of Chelan residents are asked not to put glass into their blue recycle bins, but to bring it out on Saturday mornings. Their all-volunteer team relies on support from members of the community to make the operation run smoothly every week. They have tasks suitable for all ages and abilities. Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group: Jan. 10

Mobile Food Pantry: Jan. 12
MANSON - The Mobile Food Pantry will be at North Shore Bible Church on Thursday, Jan. 12, noon- 2 p.m. All are welcome. It is a walk thru format and guests pick their own food. This is a regular stop every second Thursday of the month.

Lake Chelan Winterfest: Jan. 13-22
LAKE CHELAN - Lake Chelan Winterfest is coming January 13-22. Features will include intricate ice sculptures, two spectacular fireworks shows, the infamous Ice Bar, live music, kid’s activities, and more across the Lake Chelan Valley. Winterfest buttons are now on sale at the Lake Chelan Chamber for $10. These buttons give exclusive access to extra discounts and deals at participating businesses and wineries  throughout the duration of Winterfest, as well as access to activities like the Ice Bar and Ice Slide. Chronic Disease Support Group:
Jan. 19
CHELAN -  With the support of Aging and Adults and Tender Loving Care for Seniors, an Alzheimer’s Support Group for Chelan/Manson area has restarted. They have opened this meeting to family caregivers of people who have any serious chronic conditions: cardiac, pulmonary, neurologic (post stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, MS) and others. Meetings will be the third Thursday of the month, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Chelan Valley Hope, 417 S. Bradley Street. Aging and Adults is providing the facilitator, Bob Poindexter, who has great experience in leading support groups.
