CHELAN –  Astound Broadband Powered by Wave on December 9, donated $5,000 to Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity, to support the organization’s expanding mission of bringing people together to build homes, community, and hope.  This donation will support new home construction in the Lake Chelan Valley.
Astound Broadband Powered by Wave has been part of the Chelan-area community for years, as an employer and a provider of fiber optic internet connectivity for businesses and consumers throughout the region. Astound is dedicated to its employees and communities in ensuring equitable opportunities for all, in consideration of gender, ability, religion, orientation, or socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. The funds recently donated will help support the Habitat for Humanity’s mission that is in line with broader values that Astound wholeheartedly supports – literacy opportunities, mentorship programs for youth, housing, food security, and social services for all.
“Habitat for Humanity represents the very best of community service,” said Jared Sonne, senior vice president and general manager, Astound Broadband Powered by Wave. “There are few things more fundamental than having a place to call home, and we are honored to support Habitat for Humanity’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”
“Finding affordable housing in the Chelan area has become more challenging than ever. This timely gift will support our progress on our Pumpkin Lane project, which will eventually make home ownership possible for eight local families,” said Michelle Fanton, executive director, Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity. “By bringing the community together to build homes, we are also helping local families build strength, stability and self-reliance -- and we are grateful to Astound for helping us realize this goal.”
Astound continues to be powered by passionate local teams dedicated to the people and communities it serves, bringing customers astounding services and products.

About Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity
Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity has a long history of supporting affordable housing in the Lake Chelan Valley. Over the last 20 years we have partnered with 17 families to construct decent, affordable homes. Thanks to the stability affordable homeownership provides, these families have thrived and enjoyed the opportunity to build better lives for themselves and their families.
Lake Chelan Valley Habitat does not build homes for families; rather, we build alongside those who demonstrate need and willingness to partner with Habitat. Homeowner families invest up to 750 hours of "sweat equity" labor into the homes. Their monthly mortgage goes into a revolving fund to help with the construction of more Habitat houses in the Lake Chelan Valley. We are excited to build more homes so that more families can enjoy the stability and independence they need to become more involved in the community where they work, shop and attend school.
